URTV24 SPORT- José Mourinho has declared himself "the biggest one" in Chelsea’s history, revisiting his storied past with the club ahead of his return to Stamford Bridge. The Portuguese coach, now at the helm of Benfica, is set to face Chelsea in Tuesday’s Champions League clash. Mourinho, known as the "Special One," aims to reignite his Benfica tenure after a recent stint with Fenerbahce.

Mourinho anticipates a warm reception from Chelsea supporters, despite past experiences where he faced hostility upon returning to Stamford Bridge. A notable incident occurred during an FA Cup defeat in March 2017 when he managed Manchester United. However, Mourinho, who secured three Premier League titles across two spells with Chelsea, asserted that until another manager wins four titles, his legacy remains unmatched.

Mourinho’s Legacy at Chelsea

Mourinho reflected on Chelsea’s transformation into a "winning machine" during his tenure. He highlighted the club’s history of success before his arrival, his team’s continued triumphs, and the subsequent era of new teams, coaches, and trophies, including the coveted Champions League title. "Chelsea is a winning machine. I am the biggest one until someone wins four," Mourinho stated, emphasizing his significant contribution to the club’s success.

Returns to Stamford Bridge

Mourinho has previously visited Stamford Bridge as manager of Inter Milan, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur. His sole victory in seven attempts came with Inter in 2009-10, a season that culminated in Champions League glory. He expressed warmth while in the stadium’s Drake Suite, surrounded by images commemorating his Premier League title wins.

"Always a Blue"

Despite managing rival clubs, Mourinho affirmed his enduring connection with Chelsea. He acknowledged the club’s role in his career and his contribution to Chelsea’s growth. "I will always be a blue. I am part of their history, and they are part of my history," he stated, clarifying that his allegiance to Benfica is solely professional.

Addressing Past Incidents

Mourinho addressed a past incident during his time as Manchester United manager when Chelsea scored a late equalizer in 2018. He clarified that his reaction was not directed at the goal itself but at an insult from a member of Chelsea’s coaching staff. Mourinho praised Chelsea’s handling of the situation and revealed that he intervened to prevent the staff member from being dismissed.

Mourinho expressed optimism about the reception he would receive from Chelsea fans, noting their continued support and requests for photos and autographs.
