Foxconn wants to manufacture electric vehicles in India in a bid to diversify supply chains beyond China.
Taiwanese electronics maker’s EV division Foxtron may consider setting up an EV manufacturing centre in India along with other destinations such in South Asia such as Vietnam and Indonesia, according to Economic Times.
The report quoting unnamed sources said the Foxconn group has shown interest in manufacturing “other lines”, for clients and itself, other than phones. Bharat FIH, the group’s subsidiary currently has two units in Tamil Nadu which currently manufacture phones for Apple and Chinese brands such as Xiaomi among others.
