A Congress delegation led by Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and demanded action against Delhi Police personnel who allegedly manhandled party MPs during a protest over the ED’s questioning of former party chief Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress, which has been protesting the ED’s questioning of Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, on Wednesday claimed that the Delhi Police personnel entered its party headquarters and manhandled its leaders. The party also said that the police restricted the movements of its leaders and put up barricades outside its office.After meeting with the Speaker, Chowdhury today said that the delegation told him in detail the manner in which party leaders had been subjected to atrocities and violence. “Speaker listened to us attentively. We spoke about Delhi Police officers who barged into the AICC office and attacked our MPs and workers in a pre-planned manner,” he said.
